If you haven't heard of Vanguard: Saga of Heros, you must be living under a rock. This Sigil produced game has been the talk of the MMORPG world since the concept was first created. With SOE by their side for marketing and billing help, Sigil has managed to produce a very unique game and is sure to live on for years to come.
Take me to Telon!
The world of Vanguard is Telon and it is seamless; something that players have not seen since the days of Ultima Online. You can run across the entire world with no instancing, just a few minor server lines to cross.
Three main continents cover the land. Thestra, based on traditional fantasy with elves and dwarfs. Kojan with it's Oriental feel with Raki and Orcs. Qalia is set to an Arabian setting and is the home of Gnomes and Kurshasa. Each has a very distinct look and feel and it makes exploring in Vanguard exciting.
And what you see isn't always what you get. Sigil developers have left the ocean widely uncharted and have said that there are other islands and places to discover if you have a hand for sailing.
So Let's Sail!
Player crafted and controlled ships. Do I need to say more?
Vanguard lets the players created their own ships. Everything from a small coast hugger to a huge ship suited for pirates. You'll need to gather yourself ingredients and have a willing crafter to help you out, but once built you can sail the seas on your own. Go anywhere you want. Battle NPC pirates and take their treasure. It is up to you.
I Wanna Go Home!
Since we are touching on ships, let me explain housing. Customizable housing is great. Again, since nothing is instanced, you can freely walk into someone's house and look around at any time. (Provided they haven't locked their door.)
